It’s great to see the tech we use in our covid disinfection robots taking off around the world, with several independent reports highlighting a bright future for the sector. Here’s the covid disinfection news.
Various reports confirm a bright future for UVC disinfection equipment
It’s good to see more than one industry report about the future of UV disinfection tech predicting sharp increases and ‘fantastic’ compound annual growth rates for technology like ours.
Indian railways harness UVC robots to clean trains
The Delhi Division of India’s railways has released a video showing a UV light robot disinfecting train carriages for covid. India’s travel sector has been hit hard by the pandemic, and transport companies have been working to pin down solutions to get their sector moving again. The first robot was deployed on the 02004 New Delhi-Lucknow Shatabdi Express route, a machine that cleverly extends its arms to spread the UV light far and wide, moving automatically through each empty carriage to leave it covid-free.
UV covid disinfection tech at Boston Dental and in Las Vegas schools
Over in the USA a highly respected multi-speciality dental centre is using state of the art air filtration plus UV disinfection robots to clean its premises and keep patients safe from covid. As the report says, “Boston Dental’s UV disinfection robots have proven UV germicidal industrial solutions that eradicate harmful viruses, pathogens, and bacteria. UV-C light is the more convenient option in cleaning and disinfection as it kills 99.99% of bacteria with its 360° degree disinfection coverage. UV Disinfection Robots only need ten minutes to cleanse a room of damaging harmful organisms and keep them from multiplying.”
In Las Vegas, schools are using UV light for covid disinfection. The city has the USA’s fifth-biggest school system so it’s an important decision.
UVC disinfection makes popular Brixton eatery safe
The Nanban restaurant in Brixton is using a hospital-grade UVC disinfection robot on the premises to keep covid at bay.
Organisations around the globe close their doors thanks to covid outbreaks
While savvy businesses are investing in proven UVC disinfection robots like ours, other places around the world are having to close their doors because they haven’t taken steps to keep people safe. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) building in Muntinlupa City, Philippines, had to close down after recording 29 covid cases. Factories are closing down temporarily in Malaysia. Fifty shops a day closed in the UK during the first 6 months of 2021. And India’s ongoing school closures are proving ‘catastrophic’, particularly for poor students.
Wales u-turns on ozone covid disinfection machines
Welsh government ministers had intended to splash out around £3.31m on 1800 ozone machines developed by Swansea University. Then they u-turned in the face of safety concerns. Now the Welsh government’s Technical Advisory Group will be examining the results of early trials of the machines before deciding to buy.
The tech has already been extensively tested at Swansea University and in three school scenarios. But ozone is a highly toxic gas that damages the lungs, which means the machines – like ours – are suitable for disinfecting empty spaces where there are no people or animals. At the same time the head teachers union NAHT said it had received ‘little detail’ about the machines, having been given no information about how safe or effective they are, the number available, and the date they’d be delivered. They’re still waiting to see the evidence supporting the tech.
Wales is also spending £2.58m on CO2 traffic light monitors for classrooms, designed to give a simple visual signal of poor air quality when CO2 levels rise. The idea is to do a better job of school ventilation.
We think they’d benefit from exploring UVC covid disinfection tech which is already proven to work, and has been used in UK and worldwide healthcare settings for decades.
