Did you know your risk of a potentially life-threatening lung clot increases 33 times within a month of being infected by covid?
A team at Umea University in Sweden kept an eye on over a million people who’d tested positive for the virus, for nine months. Then they compared the health outcomes of those who’d had covid to 4 million people who hadn’t caught it. The results are worrying, and the news marks yet another unexpected outcome for a virus that too many people still think isn’t any worse than a common cold.
Regardless of how bad or mild your symptoms are your risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) within 30 days of infection increases five times. And it stays that high for around six months. This can cause a pulmonary embolism, blocking blood flow to the lungs and potentially killing you. While the risk was highest for people who’d had a bad dose of covid, even a mild case left people with a three times higher risk of DVT and seven times more at risk from a pulmonary embolism.
As one expert, Frederick Ho at the University of Glasgow, told
The Guardian. “Despite the potential for new variants of concern, most governments are removing restrictions and shifting their focus to determining how best to live with covid. This study reminds us of the need to remain vigilant to the complications associated with even mild Sars-CoV-2 infection”.
In a time like this it’s great to know that our UVC covid killing technology is taking off, with more organisations using it and more studies proving how effective it is in killing covid safely, both when people are in a space and when it’s empty.

LED UVC covid killing technology saves the day – The latest research
According to one
news source in Boston, USA, the city’s drinking water is already treated with UV light, as are the city’s hospitals and surgical rooms. Now the Greater Boston Food Bank is going to use a UVC emitting robot to disinfect surfaces and kill airborne virus particles, built by MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Cambridge-based firm AVA Robotics. As one of their scientists says,
“Research shows that ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, specifically shining UVC light at different surfaces, can neutralize and kill various microorganisms.”
MIT reckons its UV robot will neutralise 90% of the coronavirus and ‘could potentially work in many other large spaces’. They suggest grocery stores, schools, office buildings, hotels, and anywhere else where it’s wise to ‘reduce the risk of exposure’ between people.
In New York City there’s already a pilot underway to disinfect buses and subway carriages using portable UVC lamps, and the same goes for buses in Shanghai.
