Covid isn’t going away any time soon. The world is beginning to settle into ‘living with’ the virus. At the same time school covid safety is on the menu, with vital conversations going on about long term covid disinfection for schools.
A government funded pilot into covid safety for schools has been taking place in 30 West Yorkshire primary schools, and a nationwide rollout could be on the cards. The research involves ten schools being fitted with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, and ten schools with UV purifiers. The third group of ten schools is acting as a ‘control’ for the test, with no extra school covid safety measures provided.
The school covid disinfection trial is being run by the Centre for Applied Education Research, a collaboration between the universities of Leeds, Bradford and York, Bradford Council, and the Department for Education. The leader of the study, Professor Mark Mon-Williams from the University of Leeds, said the study would also examine the practical aspects of getting the different units installed. As a government spokesperson said,
“We are working to identify cost-effective ways to reduce transmission in communities and this pilot, backed by £1.75 million, is designed to assess the most effective use of proven air disinfection technologies in school settings.”
Meet Cool-Tech Ltd – specialists in UV technology for the education sector
At Cool-Tech Ltd we’re already supplying fixed air purification units and mobile direct light units to schools in Ireland. The research in Bradford, plus the fact that all our laboratory tests are conducted and signed off into white papers by the University of East Anglia, mean our covid killing UV units are proven to be safe and effective.
Cool-Tech is an ISO9000 company. We’ve been trading since 2006 and we employ eight people. The UVC arm of our company produces fixed and mobile UV lamps that break down the DNA of bacteria, viruses and spores, rendering them entirely harmless.
UV radiation is already widely used in water and air treatment as a disinfection process that inactivates micro-organisms without the use of chemicals. And it’s the perfect way to deal with the risk of coronavirus in schools.
Our lamps are proven to be effective against a range of pathogenic micro-organisms: cholera, hepatitis, polio, typhoid, giardia, cryptosporidium, many other bacterial, viral and parasitic diseases, plus Covid-19 and all its variants. This type of sterilising equipment eliminates every single pathogen in the same way, so the technology will never become obsolete like vaccines can. It will safely kill every variant of every airborne organism going forwards.
You can rely on UV light for covid safety in education
If you’re responsible for covid school safety and would like to trial our units in one or more schools, we will be delighted to step in. In a world where covid is still mutating and is likely to be something we’ll be facing for a number of years, UVC technology is the best way of getting children back into schools safely. It also keeps essential people like teachers and school support staff safe from the virus, therefore able to work.
