If so we’re here to answer your questions, no strings attached, and recommend the best solutions. Welcome to our UV light disinfection UK world.
Who discovered ultraviolet?
Ultraviolet is a type of electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is shorter than visible light but longer than X-rays, making up 10% of the total electromagnetic radiation given off by the sun. The German physicist Johann Wilhelm Ritter discovered ultraviolet in 1801.
What is UV disinfection?
UV disinfection is simply the process of using UV light at a special wavelength to kill off pathogens in air, in water, or on surfaces. A modern UV disinfection unit can come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and designs to provide clean air and surfaces in every commercial context.
How does ultraviolet disinfection work?
Ultraviolet disinfection works by damaging the DNA and RNA inside pathogens quickly and effectively, which means they can’t reproduce so can’t spread disease. Ultraviolet sterilisation kills a huge range of health threats including killer diseases like Ebola, SARS, MERS, Covid and hospital acquired infections, keeping employees and the people who buy from public-facing businesses safe from illness.
It’s no surprise UV light disinfection for hospitals has been used for decades to sterilise the places we go to be treated and the places where we recover.
Are UV sterilisers safe?
UV light is a type of radiation, the kind that gives us sunburn. The best UV sterilisers are safe, made with quality materials bearing the science in mind. Some of our units can be switched on at all times, safe for people to enter the space they’re fitted. Others are designed to be used when the area is empty.
Our designs are all perfectly safe, engineered with skill, made from the best materials, and certified by all the right official bodies for use in the UK. Take a look at this LED UV air steriliser, which you can keep on at all times. It constantly disinfects the upper air, pulling the air from below through the fan to increase the air circulation and help protect people in the room.
Why UV lights in toilets?
If you don’t like the sound of a floral fecal fountain, stop reading now! If someone uses the loo and doesn’t close the lid before flushing, the contents of the pan rush up in an invisible fountain of particles to fill the air.
It isn’t something you’d want to breathe in. The entire bathroom or loo can be filled with miniscule poop and urine particles, which pose a threat because diseases can spread as a result. Norovirus, for example, spreads via poop particles in the air. A specially designed UV light like ours will remove the threat by killing any pathogens present, making them harmless before they’re breathed in.
Will a UV light kill algae?
Yes, UV light kills algae, along with a huge list of spores, bacteria, viruses and more.
Can UV light kill mould?
Yes, UV light kills mould too, disinfecting everything the light touches, including the air.
Who UV?
We do UV disinfection, and we’ve created a suite of different units each with a specific UV cleaning task in mind.
We have units that can be fitted easily into existing light fittings, sitting discreetly above to keep people safe.
We have portable units you wheel around from room to room, building to building, where they do a fast and efficient job of cleansing health threats in the air and on surfaces.
We even have special vehicle sterilisers – great for everyone from driving instructors to public transport – and a brilliant in-duct air purification probe disinfection lamps for killing off nasties like Legionnaire’s disease.
