Just six days ago the media reported UK covid cases more than doubling in a month and daily deaths up 22%. Five days ago they reported covid cases in the UK breaching the 100,000 a day mark again, with a daily rise of 12%. A drop in cases the day before was later put down to a ‘technical error’.
Three days ago the news reported daily cases falling 14% in the previous 7 days but hospitalisations jumping 17% to the highest level in months. Three days ago we had reports of London cases going up 28% in a week. And the latest real-world data reveals vaccine immunity is starting to drop off for the oldest and most vulnerable groups, those who had their booster jabs more than 15 weeks ago.
As Sky News said,
“A combination of three factors - waning vaccine immunity, more social contacts and a new strain of Omicron - has led to a surge in COVID cases and an increase in the number of older people being admitted to hospital.”
More UK experts are saying the end of free covid testing could put vulnerable people at serious risk. At the same time we’re seeing increasing appeals from medical experts and scientists for people to wear masks inside and meet outside once more.
Even if you take an optimistic look at the trends we’re seeing right now, things are looking very uncertain indeed. No wonder more people are asking key queries around covid safety. How do I stay safe from covid, how to keep my family safe from covid, how to keep customers safe from covid, and how to protect employees against covid, they’re all valid questions. Luckily there’s one simple answer, a solution more businesses are adopting as time goes by.
How to stay safe from covid? It’s a UVC thing
We’ve been providing highly effective, very practical and unusually affordable UVC covid killing light tech from the start. The technology has been used in hospitals and other healthcare settings for decades, now it’s coming into its own to protect people from covid. We’re seeing a stream of new and ongoing research proving the point, revealing time and time again the tech’s safety and effectiveness.
This week there’s new research from Columbia University Medical Center in the USA along with scientists at the University of St. Andrews, University of Dundee, and the University of Leeds, UK. As an article on MSN about the study says:
“Researchers say the technology represents a new 'hands off' way of curbing the spread of COVID-19, compared to existing control measures that involve significant changes in people's behavior – such as abiding by lockdowns, physical distancing, mask-wearing, or getting vaccinated.”
In contrast to the challenges of these effective but often unpopular measures, installing Far-UVC lighting in indoor environments could be about as easy as changing a light bulb, scientists say – and the effectiveness of the device's antimicrobial radiation is no less impressive. Far-UVC rapidly reduces the amount of active microbes in the indoor air to almost zero, making indoor air essentially as safe as outdoor air.”
The Daily Mail reports on the same study, quoting the author Professor David J. Brenner, director of the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University. As he says,
“Using this technology in locations where people gather together indoors could prevent the next potential pandemic. Far-UVC light is simple to install, it's inexpensive, it doesn't need people to change their behaviour, and above all it's a safe way to prevent the transmission of any virus, including the Covid virus and its variants, as well as influenza and also any potential future pandemic viruses.”
All this means covid safety via far-UVC light is well on the way to going mainstream. With more new studies being concluded every week around the world, the question how to avoid covid in indoor spaces is a lot less tricky than it used to be. We know how to keep ourselves, our employee, customers, visitors and suppliers safe, and that means you can also help to keep your family safe from covid.
The more businesses adopt the Far UVC solution, the faster they do it, the safer we will all be in the public places and workspaces where we were previously very vulnerable. Even more importantly, and thinking unselfishly, the more we can reduce the number of people who catch covid across the world, in every country, the more likely we will be to finally stop this thing in its tracks.
